OnePlus mobile phone | OnePlus 2 - For those looking for excellence at a lower price

Mobile Phone | The OnePlus 2 is Still cheaper and Selling more than the OnePlus 3
It has a 13-megapixel camera, equipped with laser-assisted autofocus – that’s normally a feature associated with £500+ smartphones, not mid-rangers at sub-£300.

There are some things missing from the OnePlus 2’s line-up of features. It isn’t water resistant, it has no microSD slot and the battery isn’t user-removable. Then again, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has neither of those things, and costs twice as much.

There are four different finishes available: three in natural wood – Bamboo, Rosewood and Black Apricot – and one in Kevlar.

The OnePlus 2 is a magnificent phone, from the growing Chinese company.

Mobile Phone | Picks from the critics:

OnePlus 2
The lack of NFC, a removable battery, a microSD card slot, and quick- and wireless charging means the OnePlus 2 is not a flagship killer. It does have some killer new features though, including USB Type-C, 4G dual-SIM support and some powerful hardware. At the reduced price of £249 (we don't recommend the 16GB OP2), it's an unrivalled deal. says pcadvisor

OnePlus 2
OnePlus 2 is not quite a flagship killer in the strictest sense of the phrase. It has weaknesses, not least its battery life. However, its flaws must be viewed in the appropriate context.

I’m judging it here against the strictest criteria, the most expensive smartphones on the market, with the most features, the biggest marketing budgets and multinational companies behind them prepared to spend millions developing their products. Once you take that into account, this sub-£300 begins to look like an unbeatable bargain.

OnePlus 2 is not a phone that will ever be mass-market. Even though OnePlus has now suspended the invitation system in favour of a permanently open sale, the fact that you can't buy one on contract will ensure most people won't encounter it when they venture down to their local mobile phone store. That's a shame, because OnePlus 2 is the biggest bargain in the smartphone sector right now. says alphr

OnePlus 2
The OnePlus 2 packs the latest power, an improved camera and fancy fingerprint scanner into a new design, and it's finished with a price tag that puts the rest of the high-end mobile market to shame.

The omission of a microSD slot and NFC may be too much for a select few, the lack of wireless and/or fast changing is a little disappointing, and the software issues are niggling, although hopefully fixable.

Is it the best phone on the market? No. If you're looking for pure mobile excellence the Samsung Galaxy S6, with its premium price tag, is still the pinnacle, but for those on more reasonable budgets the OnePlus 2 is a barnstorming buy.

It may not be perfect, but considering the price you'll be paying it's easy to forgive the OnePlus 2 its shortcomings. Seriously though: do spend the extra money on a real wood back. You'll thank me later. says techradar
