Samsung mobile phone | Galaxy S7 edge - A serious contender for best phone of 2016

Mobile Phone

Mobile Phone | The Samsung offering with each flagship phone a different design to its predecessor, and the Galaxy S7 edge one of the flagship phones That tried to Samsung to offer a different design and new features.

But it's a very similar design to last year's S6 edge phones, However, the Galaxy S7 edge looks stunning with glass which almost wraps around to the back – which is also glass. Once again, it's easily in the top best looking phones on the market.

Also, some new features Basically they it was exist on the Galaxy S5, like waterproofing, the Many Galaxy S6 owners were disappointed at the lack of this feature on their phones.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge now water-RESISTANT, as it's IP68 rated. That means it's still able to work after being dunked in fresh water for 30 minutes up to a depth of 1.5 metres, so you'll be able to use it happily in the bath, or beside the shallow end of the swimming pool, and not worry about dropping it.

As for the Screen, it’s a significant 0.4in larger than the standard S7 and, interestingly, a mere 0.2in smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

The camera of Samsung S6 last year has seen a change in the resolution and it remains so to this day, on the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, so in reducing the resolution from 16 megapixels to 12 megapixels.

The reduction in resolution means the pixels have increased in size, from 1.12um to 1.4um, although that in itself won’t make a huge difference to image quality. The overall size of the sensor is still roughly the same, increasing by only a fraction, from 1/2.6in to 1/2.5in, so the overall light-gathering capacity of the sensor is similar.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has two variants: one running the Snapdragon 820 quad-core CPU from Qualcomm (available in the US) and the other using Samsung's own Exynos 8890 octa-core CPU for the rest of the world. Both chips are paired with 4GB of RAM.

For those of you interested in the technical details, the Exynos 8890 is an octa-core processor which features four 2.3GHz cores and four 1.6GHz cores. The chip will decide which to use based on the task. The GPU is a Mali-T880 MP12 which is a step up from the Mali-T760 MP8 found in the Galaxy S6 edge.

The battery is now 3,600mAh, a full 1,000mAh bigger than the S6 Edge’s comparatively wimpy 2,600mAh.

Mobile Phone | Picks from the critics:

Galaxy S7 edge
Samsung has given fans what they want. Although some of the main features are things from the Galaxy S5 – Micro-SD and waterproofing – The Galaxy S7 edge is now a refined, sophisticated and highly desirable piece of technology. The battery isn't removable but the phone lasts longer than before and has seriously powerful specs under the hood. It has almost everything you could want from a phone even though the IR blaster is gone. We're also very impressed with the new camera and unless the screen is too big for you (despite some software features to help out) we think it's worth getting the S7 edge for the extra £70 with its gorgeous looks and extra functionality. Right now, this is the best smartphone money can buy. says pcadvisor

Galaxy S7 edge
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is simply superb. Although it isn’t a huge upgrade on last year’s model, but it improvements all round – a better camera, bigger screen, better Edge screen functions, that microSD slot, weather-proofing and superb battery life – it’s a big enough update to maintain Samsung’s position at the top of the smartphone tree.

But the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge doesn’t quite depose the Nexus 6P from the top of our best smartphones list. It’s a bit too expensive for that, costing £639 inc VAT at retail, some £190 more than the Google flagship. Although it’s prettier and more capable, it’s not £200 better.

That doesn’t stop it being a great phone, however, and it shouldn’t prevent you from buying one if you can afford it. In fact, of the two S7 smartphones launched this year, it’s clearly the best one. The price differential between the S7 Edge and the standard Samsung Galaxy S7 is only £70 and for a bigger, better, sexier smartphone, that isn’t a bad deal at all.

In the end, the best recommendation I can think of, however, is that this is the smartphone I would buy if money was no object; I can think of no stronger endorsement than that. says alphr

Galaxy S7 edge
The positives far outweigh the negatives with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Once you're past the cost element (and that is something to take into consideration), you've got a phone that you'll find hard to put down.

Whether it's taking pictures that look great nine times out of 10, or just enjoying the clarity and sharpness of the screen, the Galaxy S7 Edge manages to delight, and stand out in a world where new smartphones are increasingly being offered with razor-thin differences between them.

If you're looking for a well-designed, powerful phone that actually packs some useful day-to-day features, the Galaxy S7 Edge is the one to go for. says techradar
